Jesus takes no prisoners.
It is a great paradox that in God’s kingdom – one that is abundant and overflowing – there is no waste. The Master uses everything, and He wants us to follow Him in that: No Holding On.
The children of Israel got only daily manna in the wilderness. Anything saved would spoil terribly. And the Bible records that each day we are blessed with new mercies.

God may have worked a miracle in your finances and His retirement plan is out of this world -- literally! But to call him the Great Financial planner in the sky simply cannot do Him justice. It’s what He does, but it’s not who He is.

Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Mark 10:24-25. I've always read this passage and thought it was referring to rich people, never people like me. That was, until I got a change in perspective, in two senses of the word.

When was the last time you were still and quiet? Our world offers distractions galore -- on our televisions, on our computer screens, on our telephones, on every bill board and even on some vehicles. There is an ever-present press from every conceivable device (and even some unconcievable ones) for just a moment of our attention -- all five seconds of it .

Humility is a key to many open doors, and to the most important door of all -- the one leading to God's heart. Before Jesus began his ministry, his cousin John had a message: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand -- its coming. Then Jesus began His ministry describing just who the kingdom opened its doors to. His answer in the beatitudes: every poor, broken, bleeding soul. Every less than. Every bankrupt spirit. Everyone who has nothing to offer. The kingdom of God is for every person who recognizes their own personal sinful condition and their own personal need for God. Every living soul, even small children, recognizes having a need, and understands their own sin -- that they are not in every way perfectly pleasing to God. We recognize that we could be better, do better. And everyone feels some shame for this, some guilt, some degree of helplessness in attempting to please God. To man, helplessness is a wretched feeling to be despised and a position to avoid at all costs. But to God, helplessness is a key to the kingdom. All that God has to offer, is for that soul that recognizes its need for Him. And it is the poverty, the lowliness in spirit that generates the invitation to sit at God’s table. The broken soul has the very key to God's heart. God is not the figment of imagination of the desperate, but He is the Helper of the helpless. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:3
