Medical practitioner Chinyere N. Eze recently opened her practice in Waldorf offering a holistic approach to medicine and some free services to the public. In this exclusive interview she talks with The Vine about her new center, and what we can do to empower our own health. TVN: Why did you start the Eze Family Health Center? CE: As a long-time medical practitioner and patient advocate, I felt the need to create a medical practice with a patient-centered focus in which patients are empowered through knowledge so they are better able to take control of their health and well-being. The holistic approach to wellness, not just disease management, is the foundation and principles by which Eze Family Health Center is grounded. CE: My approach goes beyond just understanding and knowing about diseases and conditions but I also concentrate on wellness and preventive means to achieve quality health. My focus is also on a holistic approach to well-being in which mind, body and spirit are important factors in health. TVN: What is your goal for your patients? CE: My goal is for them to be able to achieve overall wellness and health --getting them to an exceptional state of health, where they are healthier, preventing chronic diseases and reducing the amount of medication that they’re taking. TVN: What do you offer the community? CE: We provide FREE Health Screenings and Health Seminars every Saturday from 12-1. This is open to the community and it is not required for individuals to be patients of ours to attend. We passionately believe in the importance of education and knowledge about health so we concentrate our efforts towards this to empower our patients to be proactive in their health and wellness. CE: By year five, we would have expanded our practice to a second location ideally in Prince George's County. By then we would have built our medical team to include nurse practitioners and another physician. We would also expand services to include minor urgent care, concierge medical services and home visits. |
