If you were having a conversation with someone today and they said technology was not important, you might be respectful, but you probably would not agree. In fact, you may have had the conversation over a mobile phone or even video chat, proving that technology is paramount. Technology isn’t just important in what we do everyday, it can be key to having an effective ministry, especially one targeted to young people. Our youth are more plugged into technology than any other generation. Here are some ways the church can embrace technology and use it as a tool to serve our youth better: |

I was on a flight recently headed out to teach about effective and ineffective youth ministry, and was reminded a Youtube video of a flight attendant who presented his in-flight instructions a little differently.
In the clip you can see the excitement of the people and the attendant as he gives out the rules, which the riders have heard before, and are no different from rules on any other airline.
What is different, however, is his delivery and his passion.

I recently read "Almost Christian" by Kenda Dean. While the book made many points I agreed with, one of the most grabbing was how directly connected a parent’s spiritual life can be to the spiritual life and formation of their student.

A few days ago I was driving in the city and I saw a man feeding a group of pigeons, which led (as always) to chaos among the pigeons who were just trying to eat. It made me think about youth ministry and how we serve (feed) our students.
Do we, as youth leaders, set our students up to be like these pigeons? Do we set them up to rush to be fed because they don't know when the next feeding will be or who the next feeding will come from (i.e. turnover in youth ministry)?
