Renowned Pastor Celebrates Thirty Years of Ministry with Launch of Major Partnership
Written by Administrator

November 6, 2009, District Heights, MD....Bishop David T.P.
Perrin, president of the Great Commission Global Ministries (GCGM) will mark
a major milestone in his life as a church and international leader with a
major partnership purposed to bring an enhanced quality of life to an even
greater number of people through missions trips to several nations. When
Perrin took his first trip overseas over twenty years ago, one of the first
things he noticed was the disparity of people of color on the mission field.
"We met a lot of Americans in our travels, but one thing bothered me and
that was that there were so few African Americans," says Bishop Perrin.
This realization spurned a launch of an international ministry, Great
Commission Global Ministry (GCGM) which continued the profound impact Perrin
has had in Maryland, the USA and around the world during thirty years of
ministry. Thousands of people receiving renewed hope through saved
marriages, addictions overcome, emotional wounds healed and opportunities to
discover and express creative talents are a just a few of the ways this
Howard University educated leader has touched lives and helped to change the
most dire of circumstances.

Perrin first began taking missions trips as senior pastor of the
Church of the Great Commission (CGC) in Camp Springs, Maryland. CGC was
originally Parkway Baptist Church which was struggling with fewer than
thirty members when Perrin took over in 1982. He changed the name to CGC
and grew the membership to nearly 4,000 during his twenty years as senior
pastor. However, the passion to reach the lost and hurting in indigent
nations propelled him to eventually appoint current CGC Pastor, Joshua Kevin
White, freeing him to travel and train others, especially African Americans
to do mission work.

"There is a mission field here in the United States with so many
in poverty and need, but there is a major need in other countries where it
is difficult to find a church where they can get the nurturing, training,
and empowerment that we have been able to bring," Perrin says.
He has also been instrumental in planting several churches in Africa, South
America, and India, including training pastors and leaders to effectively
minister in sometimes hostile environments.

On Sunday, November 15, 2009, during a celebration and reunion
of hundreds of church and community leaders, congregants and friends, Perrin
will announce the launch of a partnership with Serving in Missions (SIM) a
major organizations that has dedicated itself to missions around the world
for more than one hundred years. "This partnership will allow us (GCGM) to
send missionaries to over 48 countries, participate in 900 humanitarian
projects and to serve as a mission sending agency for other churches,"
Perrin adds.

The celebration will take place at the Sanctuary at kingdom
Square, 9033 Central Ave., Capitol Heights, MD. For more information, visit
www.gcgm.org.
